Use the product search already built into your store
Install Fast Search and open it from your store control panel. New installations are enabled automatically and the searchable catalog is prepared in the background. There is no activation wizard. Existing stores keep their saved settings, including a paused Fast Search.
Open your storefront and type at least two characters of a product name or SKU. If the native search field is missing or disabled, use the instructions below. Fast Search does not add or enable that field for you.
Fast Search uses your store's native product-search field. It does not add a new search box or connect to a generic website or blog search.
Built-in website editor: show the search field or icon
- Open your website editor and select Menu & Header.
- If product search or its search icon is hidden, turn it on in the header settings. Labels can vary by site version.
- Publish your changes, then reload the storefront. Open search and type at least two characters of a product name or SKU.
Fast Search does not change your header layout or turn on a hidden native search field for you.
WordPress: use the store's Product Search Box
- In the WordPress editor, add the Product Search Box block supplied by your store plugin.
- For a classic theme, you can instead use Appearance → Widgets and add the store plugin's Product Search widget.
- Publish or update the page, then reload it and search for a product.
The ordinary WordPress Search block searches your website or blog; Fast Search does not enhance it.
Other websites: use the native product-search widget
- Use the website integration tools in your store control panel to obtain the native Product Search widget.
- Add it to the page where shoppers need search, using your website builder's integration tools or asking your website developer.
- Make sure the store integration and its app scripts load on that page. Publish the page, reload it and search for a product.
A generic website search field or a separately coded search box is not automatically supported. Unusual themes or iframe integrations may need help from your website developer.
If the native search field is visible but live results are missing, check Enable Fast Search in the app Settings. After changing it, wait up to one minute and reload the storefront.
Turning Fast Search off removes its live dropdown on a freshly loaded page after settings refresh. Your native search field and normal product search remain available.
Catalog connection confirms access to products, not that a search field is visible on your website.
